A media revolution is under way, lead by virtual and augmented reality. These technologies profoundly disrupt how we tell stories, how we promote products and services, and how we sell. With these new challenges comes the responsibility of understanding and respecting the rules of this new medium, at the risk of alienating customers and harming the industry.

This pledge is a commitment to respect the customer experience in our advertising efforts, and a promise to keep VR&AR free of intrusive adverts, so that the industry can thrive.

WHO is it for?

Created in tandem with the VRAR Association, we are a mix of entrepreneurs, internet moguls, advertising veterans and immersive media specialists. We created the VR&AR Pledge as a community of forward thinking companies who believe in immersive technologies and want to shape a discussion to help define the standards for immersive advertising.

The Pledge is the commitment in our global monthly forum designed specifically for brands, advertisers and creatives to set the industry standards for compelling, quality-driven adverts in immersive media.

The 6 Golden Rules of Advertising summarise our engagement. By joining the Pledge, you commit to respect these rules to create a sustainable future for advertising in immersive technologies.

Popups, interstitials and obnoxious banners are forbidden. Audiences are unforgiving for poor experiences.

Your VR/AR experience must follow a natural storyline, or risk making a non-immersive experience.

Your placements should enhance the experience to entertain, educate or amaze. Nothing less.

VR and AR call for a highly personalized experience. Know who you're talking to, and make sure they want to hear from you.

AR experiences are highly contextual. Deliver what people want when they want it, and get rid of spam forever.
